I’m not sure either.
How does a person memorize half a play, digesting so many words for a live show?
My only response is: “I treat it like the biggest lasagna made for a cancelled wedding reception: one bite at a time”.
Upon 1st skimming, the script feels like both the yellow and white pages. After working on the lines, understanding the plot and all that stuff that every acting teacher grilled into me, by the end of the whole thing, those phone books seem like a mere pamphlet. The script shrinks over time, becoming less and less intimidating. You look it over and wonder how you did that?
One bite at a time.
